Green mowing

We started mowing greens this morning but I immediately pulled them off.  Too much sand is sticking to the rollers on the mowers resulting in a poor cut and a messy green.  Therefore, we are going to simply roll greens this morning and drag them with a brush this afternoon once the turf dries.  This will help disperse the sand and get it into the holes.  Last night I flushed greens (ran heads for 30 minutes) to help get sand off the surface and into the holes.  This also helps suck cool air into the soil profile.

Brooming greens stands the turf up and gives us a better cut in the coming days.  However, grass standing means more friction and slower ball roll.  Regardless, these processes are necessary to ensure good putting green health.  Thank you for your understanding and support!
