GCSAA Grassroots Ambassadors

GCSAA recently established a program for Superintendents to have direct contact with their elected member of Congress.  If issues arise, which they often do, each superintendent would be responsible for educating their congressman on the issue.  Brian was selected as the ambassador to Representative Mark Meadows.

Such issues include the ban of certain chemistries.  For example, as of October 6th, it will be illegal for golf courses to have and store, Nemacure.  This is a product that controls nematodes.  There are no other comparable chemistries on the market.  Those of you from Florida will certainly experience the impacts from this decision.  The soil fumigant, Methyl Bromide, is also coming of the market.  At HCC, if we were to re-grass the greens down the road, there is no soil fumigant on the market to use to eliminate Poa annua seed in the soil.  These decisions negatively impact the golf industry and make it much more difficult for superintendents to deliver a product that meets the expectations of the membership.
