Above, is a picture of our walk mower setup. You can see the groomer set up is mounted right in front of the cutting unit. This stands the turf just before it is sheared.
Our riding greensmower or triplex, is equipped with a set of grooming reels. We can get slightly more aggressive with this compared to the groomers on the walk mowers. We will usually do this just before light sand topdressings in the summer. This process levels the surface and increases ball roll. Remember, ball roll is a function of friction, or lack thereof. Anytime you lower the height of cut or thin the surface, friction is reduced and ball roll increases.
