The croquet court was mowed for the first time on Friday. These surfaces were aerified back in October as opposed to late November. This is why they are much farther ahead compared to the greens on the golf course. We could shift greens aerification to September as well and have healthy, puttable greens in April. Of course, another aerification would be required in May. This is something I plan to bring up to both the green and golf committees, as I do every year. Each April, I receive grumbling about the condition of the greens as well as golfers who are "surprised" by the amount of disruption despite the amount of information I put out there. Greens aerification is not an option, unless of course soft, thatchy and partially dead greens are acceptable. The choice is what time of year would you rather deal with the disruption.
