Conditions improving
After our first good week at warm weather, I couldn't be happier with the progress on the course. The warm rain last week really greened the turf up. Monday we will be fertilizing the entire property and in a week, you will see a big difference in color. The greens are coming around nicely as well. I haven't been mowing the greens frequently for a number of reasons. One, cold weather can add to the damage caused by the excess sand on the surface. By allowing the turf to grow through the sand will speed the healing process up. We will mow greens tomorrow afternoon and spray them Tuesday morning with more fertilizer. If the good weather continues, I hope to have walk mowers on them by the end of next week. This will start the process of lowering the height of cut down for the season. Remember again, this is the 1st week of growing weather and pushing a good root system is very important. We can't come out of the gate mowing at .125"!! Please continue to enjoy the golf course and know in 2-3 weeks we will be in great condition!
