Soil Amendments

With a slight warm up today we are able to get out and perform a few much needed task on the golf course. Today we are finishing up our first fertility application on greens.  We are putting out 3 different products that all will be very beneficial for the turf-grass plant and soil as well.  Below is a break down of the products we applied and a short description of what those do for the soil.

0-0-50:  This product supplies the plant with potassium, which plays an essential role in plant growth.  Also it can perform task in tuft much like it can the human body, for example strengthen cells and help maintain water balance.

Calcitic Lime:  This product provides an large amount of calcium, which in turn helps strengthen cell walls and the plant in general.  Much like calcium can do in the human body as well.  Also calcium can help with nutrient uptake in the plant.  Also increases the soils CEC or nutrient holding capacity and manages the soil pH.

ProMag: This last product helps add Magnesium into the soil, and plant.  This is important because magnesium helps in the photosynthesis process which is how plants grow and produce food.
