Thursday ongoing projects

You always know it is Christmas in Highlands when the wreath and bow go up on the pump house chimney.

We started some drainage improvements on the right side of #11 fairway.

Jerry Dalton started logging some serious hours sitting on the tractor and aerifier.  This process is done 'wall to wall' 2 times!  It will take him about 1 month provided the weather is good.  The process is done for a number of reasons including: reducing soil compaction, reducing thatch accumulation, adding oxygen to the soil and on fairways, it allows us a channel to incorporate sand.

This is an aerification plug showing the amount of sand we accumulated through fairway sand topdressing.  It adds up to a 3" layer.  This amount of sand creates a firmer and drier surface to play from.  This is pretty impressive and certainly takes commitment on behalf of the club.  Building up a layer like this is the result of 10 years of steady topdressing.

Course Crafters is offically finished for the year.  The PG is complete.  As you can see we lack 4,000 square feet on the PG.  Again, this is because the size of the PG increased by 3,000ft2 and a 1,000ft2 or so went to the expansion on the 11th green.  We will purchase the remainder of sod in March.
