This morning we are spiking and topdressing greens. Spiking is a non disruptive process that vents the top inch of the soil profile. It also gives a tiny channel for the topdressing sand to fall into. We topdress once every 2-3 weeks very lightly to keep up with organic matter accumulation. Sand topdressing is required for any intensely manicured turf.
