Another 10,000ft2 of sod was delivered today, allowing us to cover more of our unfinished projects. This load of sod was split between Kentucky Bluegrass (KBG) and Fine Fescue (FF). FF is a more drought tolerant species and we are using it in areas that may be outside of irrigation coverage. We re-sodded the "two track" maintenance paths, an old maintenance path below #5 tees and finally, the new steps on #8, using FF sod. With the FF sod the was left after those areas, we sodded the hillside on #11, right of the stream, that was cleared off last winter. This area has looked unfinished until now. The photos below give you a glimpse of what was accomplished today.
Today we also received our first load of hardwood mulch for the grounds. We'll be getting a second load tomorrow. Mulch is delivered on what is called a shaker truck. It's interesting and fun to watch! It unloads mulch using a large rotating conveyor belt-like mechanism inside the truck bed that agitates and pushes the mulch towards the back of the bed, where the open tailgate allows the mulch to fall out into a pile, essentially 'shaking' the mulch out of the truck.
