It's a busy day at the Club, getting as much sod prep work and sodding done as possible before the rain sets in tonight. We're expecting some intense wind and 2" of rain. One area that always take a beating during the winter are cart path edges. This is because of the large equipment we use over the winter. Eight foot wide cart paths are difficult to move large pieces of equipment through the golf course with out getting in the grass. When this happens, we replace the turf in areas that we know won't recover.
The practice tee is officially complete! Ken has the Turf Hound company schedule to come install the mats to the cement slabs, next week. I think you'll agree the new layout of the mats is better than it's been historically. All of this work was completed "in-house."
If you look at the tee closely, you can see green circles where the UFO landed last night. Actually, that's not from aliens. It is a soil fungus known as fairy ring. While it is somewhat difficult to treat, the circles will disappear once all the turf greens up in another one or two months.
Just some cool photos of the 8th hole while I was up in the air!
