Last Friday’s storm dropped 4” of snow on Highlands and due to the frigid temperatures, it’s in no hurry to melt. We shifted our focus to a firewood splitting effort. Every winter we split a couple cords of firewood that is then burned through the season in the Clubhouse and Hudson House fireplaces.
This afternoon, we are plowing some cart paths so we’re able to get back out on the golf course this week and work on a couple projects, even where snow is on the ground. Over the past 2 years we’ve been so fortunate to receive very little snow. Snow definitely cuts back on our productivity. As cold as this winter has been so far, I have a feeling this will be one of several snow events.
Finally, the good news is that the projects on #12 and #14 greens, in addition to #17 fairway, are basically finished except for sodding. The plan is to have our contractor return in late February-early March to finish the soil prep and sodding on those holes and also make repairs to the 10th hole that was damaged during the dredging project.
