The biggest technological trend in the turf industry right now is the autonomous mower. Over the past 10 years, the technology has been improving and is getting more and more reliable. This particular piece is what I would consider to be the best quality and most beneficial piece on the market. The cost however, is a little on the high side. This mower costs $160,000 compared to a manned fairway mower that costs in the neighborhood of $100,000. However, it makes sense if your able to eliminate a position on the staff. In most cases though, it results in reallocating labor to other areas of the golf course, rather than the elimination of a position. Nationwide, this company has about 36 of these units on golf courses, as I understand it. The company can manufacture six of these, per month at the current time.
