Tuesday

Today was so productive with the golf course closed for the day!  We got a good start on fairway inner-seeding in addition to completing greens venting with 1/4" tines.

600 lbs. of the Crystal Bluelinks variety of Creeping Bentgrass (this grass has Penn State lineage)  is being inner-seeded into our fairways.  The goal of this program is to introduce newer varieties of Bentgrass into our fairways, which consist of old common varieties and mutations of Bentgrass turf.  New varieties offer denser surfaces, better color, faster recovery and are even able to withstand disease pressure better than their predecessors.

This seeder creates a series of small slits in the turf and seed is dropped behind.

Happoldt is very proud of the seeder we are using.

All greens were vented with 1/4" hollow tines.  This allows gasses to escape from the rootzone, giving the soil time to "breathe."  We are not following this up with any sand, just rolling.  In a couple days, it will be hard to tell we did anything!
