Yellowjacket Awareness

We are reaching the time of year when yellowjackets are very active and angry! Use extreme caution searching for golf balls...particularly in fescue areas or on pond and creek banks.  These are the preferred in-ground hive locations for yellowjackets.  We will treat the nest as soon as we know about it. If you observe one, it's best to call me direct 787-2778 with a fairly specific location. Often times, the message is left with another department where I get a message relayed that isn't very specific like,  "there is a yellowjacket nest on the hill on #14." That makes locating a nest extremely difficult. The best scenario, if you see them entering and exiting the nest is to throw a golf tee or something in the vicinity before alerting the staff.  Be careful out there!
