Highlands CC is different from the golf courses you've been playing all winter long. Our fairways are comprised of creeping bentgrass, which doesn't have the same texture and aggressive growth habit as the Bermudagrass or Zoysiagrass fairways you've been playing on. Because of this, a divot will take a long time to heal if it is not replaced. If you want good fairways all summer, it is so important that divots are replaced. Sometimes the sand on the carts gives the impression that filling the divot with sand is the preferred method. The sand should only be used to lightly topdress a divot after it's been replaced or, to fill a divot if the divot explodes.
