Follow up to Sunday morning's blog post about Earthworms:
It's safe to say that the organic fertilizer (Early Bird 3-0-1 Fertilizer) application on Sunday morning was a huge success. This morning (Monday) hundreds and hundreds of earthworms littered #3 fairway. It is an all-you-can-eat buffet for the local bird population on the 3rd fairway. In all seriousness, now that the earthworms have moved on, the fairway that was impacted most by them will begin to have denser turf. The length of control we get following an application depends on a number of factors. First is, how many worms were actually affected. Hopefully we got a majority of the population. If that's the case, I've seen control for well over a year in some cases. However, if a good number still reside in the soil, the population can replenish itself fairly quickly, resulting in only a month or two worth of control.
