Poa annua Seed

Dr. David Huff at Penn State has started two companies known as Nittany Seed, who will grow and harvest the seed and PennPoa, who will market the seed.  If you are interested in learning more, check out the website for PennPoa below.  Believe it or not, the entire 2024 crop is already sold out!  That just gives you an idea for what the demand is for Poa annua seed.  In a conversation I had with Dr. Huff last week, he said he was contacted last month by a prominent golf course who wants to replace all 18 greens at one of their courses and that will take my entire 5 acre 2024 crop. He went on to say that if the demand stays where it is now, he can increase production by acquiring more acreage.  The process of harvesting Poa annua seed is entirely different than that of harvesting other grass seed like Bentgrass.  For this reason, it requires specialized equipment and harvesting methods.
