As temperatures are gradually getting colder as the week goes on, the forecast has changed a little bit to show a predicted 2*F on Thursday! Yikes!
The irrigation contractor is continuing on, now finishing up the sprinkler heads around the 4th green and #5 tees.  By Christmas Day, we will be finished holes 1-5!  I'm so happy that we've been that efficient during the first month.  Getting over half the project completed in a month's time is most impressive by any standard!
An 8" mainline is being installed down the hillside on #5 by the tees.  Once they get to the bottom of the hill, a 6" pipe will continue up #5 fairway and a 6" line will tee off towards #8 green.

Even though it has been cold, it's been dry for the past 5 days.  That is a nice break for us and we are taking advantage of it by finally getting to clean up the aerification plugs on the fairways.  The low humidity coupled with no rain, dries the soil cores laying on top of the ground.  The first step is running over the plugs with a 'drag mat' that breaks up the cores, causing the plant tissue to separate from the soil.  The soil particles work their way back into the ground and the remaining plant material is blown to the side and later picked up.  After the new year, we will be ordering about 250 tons of sand that will be applied to the fairways during the first or second week of January.
