Irrigation Continues Despite Weather…

Despite the cold weather and frozen ground, our contractor is working their way down the 5th hole while a smaller crew is on # 8, removing the existing sprinkler heads and filling those voids.  The hard did freeze slow us down slightly but you can see by the forecast below, we are right back in the game!

Speaking of the weather, the town has put this notice out.  There are some major water leak issues around town due to the freezing temperatures last week that haven't been discovered yet because the owner of the homes are not here.  It's always a smart idea to turn your water off when you are going to be out of town for an extended period.  Here is the notice from Town Hall:

Emergency Message

The Town of Highlands is having problems maintaining water levels at several water tanks in  our system due to water leaks in unoccupied homes. A large number of  unoccupied homes have severe leaks caused by the sub zero temperatures experienced during the weekend. The loss of water in these homes is causing the problem for the water department in filling the water tanks.

We are asking local residents in neighborhoods to check on unoccupied homes.  If there is water coming out of door entrances and other spaces, please call town hall at (828) 526-2118 to report the problem.  Please be sure to provide a street address.  Town water crews will come to the property and cut the water off at the meter.
