Thursday

Graden verticutting continues and we are about to call the front nine approaches complete.  We ran out of dry sand but we have more on the way tomorrow that will allow us to finish the back nine holes.

Above, members of our team are cleaning up from aerification on the practice tee.  Tomorrow, we'll be applying 25 tons of sand on the tee!

We are lucky to have the talent of Wayne Wilborn, who has worked with us at Highlands CC for 2 years.  Prior to this job, he spent many years in the construction industry.  Today, he is putting the roof on the log cabin that we moved last year.  This cabin sits at the farm and will be used to store Rita's gardening tools.  When time allows, we are going to chink between the logs.  I'm grateful for Wayne and he's another example of a great team player that adds to our wide range of abilities.

Finally, the bridge on #1 is essentially complete.  Next week, we will stain the treated lumber a darker color.  In addition, you'll notice the two strips of painter's tape on the decking.  This is there because we will be applying an anti-slip surface on the bridge for your safety.  This material is applied using a roller and a paint brush.  In fact, the material is actually a Rustoleum product used to coat truck beds to protect them from damage and also to prevent cargo from shifting during travel.  Many years ago, I got the idea to try this at the Highlands CC Yacht Club decking.  It turned out to be very durable and effective.

You will notice we used much smaller diameter locust logs for the railing in an effort to not draw attention to the structure and make it disappear.
