On the 7th fairway, we’ve been dealing with an area of poor drainage. Last week, I decided to try something different. Using a 3” wide auger bit, we drilled 30” deep holes in the low areas. The idea was to increase the surface area the water has to move down into the soil, rather than sitting at the surface. I was surprised to see just how effective it was. There is no standing water on #7 fairway as a result and we’ll be able to mow the whole area tomorrow, for the first time in weeks. We still have plans to address this issue during the off season. But for now, the standing water is at least gone.
