Click above for a TIME Magazine article that talks about the various inputs that are used on Turf.  While the article is interesting, it seems to be overly negative about lawns, without mentioning any of the benefits that lawns provide.  For example, grass is a plant that consumes CO2 and produces oxygen, just like all plants do.  One of the best attributes of lawns and turf is their ability to filter water runoff.  Pollutants that contaminate storm water are filtered and tied up by the turf and its dense root system before it reaches drinking water sources.  It's ability to stabilize ground and eliminate erosion is also a major benefit.
