I believe this may very well have been the coolest spring in the 20 years I've been in Highlands. As grass is still slow to come around, we are getting aggressive with groomer units on our approaches and greens. These units mow the turf vertically, which promotes a more upright growth habit as well as thinning the turf for smoother and faster surfaces. Approaches have been a goal of mine for the last few years and we have made a lot of headway. The goal is denser turf and upright growth that offers the golfer a number of different options to play a shot.
