By now, you've probably seen the walk path that was created on #5 hillside. This grassed path allows golfers to walk down the hill on something other than asphalt. In order to establish grass on the small, steep slope that was created during excavation, seed is necessary. Unfortunately, it is near impossible to find fine fescue sod that would match the rest of the bank. Fine fescues are generally slow growing and not profitable for a sod farm. The matting, made out of weed seed-free wood fiber, is being placed over top of the seedbed to hold moisture and prevent any erosion.
