I was going through some old photos and found this, an overhead photo I showed in the past. While I don't know the exact year, I would have to guess this was taken in the late 1960's to early 1970's. I zoomed into the photo to some interesting observations.
Above: The location of the Clubhouse. Looking at the building in relation to #9 green, you can see where it sits in, what is now, the parking lot of the current Clubhouse. You can see there were no Fairway Villas yet nor was their croquet lawns. At what is now the Golf Shop end of the clubhouse, you see 3 small buildings. Speaking with local resident and fellow Town Commissioner, Donnie Calloway, he informed me that these buildings consisted of a small cart shed, a laundry facility and a recreational building that housed a ping pong table and other games.
Above: The bunkering on #14. The area that is now a grass bunker/depression, once was the site of three large bunkers.
Above: The first 3 holes contained no bunkers. You can also notice there are no defined fairways. That didn't come until the late 70's when the superintendent, Steve Zarnick, painted fairway lines for the first time and then lowered the height of cut.
