Dollar Spot in Roughs

Dollar spot is popping up in our roughs all over the place.  This fungus thrives in damp conditions. Warm days and cool nights are critical for disease development too.  Based on the weather we’ve had the last few weeks, the bentgrass in our roughs is under extreme pressure. Monday, we will treat many of these areas with a fungicide. Due to a strict fungicide regime on greens, fairways and tees, you don’t see this on playing surfaces. Spraying roughs routinely with a fungicide would be cost prohibitive.  Therefore, we rely on a curative program in roughs.
