All three croquet lawns were aerified this morning using 1/4" tines. This is done for the very same reasons the golf course putting greens were opened up last week.
Below, with the warm, dry weather pattern, daily handwatering is a must. This afternoon, 4 team members are doing just that.
Below, on the 2nd hole, I am using these arrows to bring attention to the foot traffic patterns on the green. In the next 2 weeks, a sign will be added to the green entrance/exit on #16 green as well. When the golf cart became popular, the quality of turf in many areas of a green suffered because it caused all golfers to walk on a green and off a green in exactly the same place...where they park they cart. In an effort to reduce wear caused by foot traffic, I am hoping these signs cause you to consider taking a different path.
Finally, in an effort to keep YOUR golf course in top shape, I need your help! Please fix your ball marks and encourage those you play with to do the same! You can make a huge difference in the quality of your putting greens by repairing damage created by golfers! Please consider fixing other ballmarks as well, not just your own. The damage that is inflicted on the greens during these heavy play periods is immense! With solid tee times from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, the potential for wear and tear is great. It is my goal to have the greens in as good of shape late in the year just as they are at the beginning of the season. It's only possible with your help!!
