Another New Team Player...

For the past 2 weeks, Kyle Bryant has been a part of the Greenkeeping team at Highlands CC.  Kyle has been a great addition with a really interesting background of his own; as a school teacher as well as his service as a US Marine.

Kyle was born and raised in Palm Beach, Florida and was fortunate to have grandparents who owned a second home in Franklin, NC.  Since he was a child, he can recall coming to Western NC on vacations with family.  It was that knowledge of the area that led to he and his wife, Amanda, moving here full time in 2015.  Several years ago, they purchased their very own home off of Walnut Cove Rd.

In 2006, Kyle enlisted in the US Marines where he spent 3 years stationed at Quantico, a Marine Base in Virginia.  In 2009, Kyle spent several months stationed in Iraq, just 13 miles from Fallujah.  I love to learn of military stories and personal stories of the travels of people like Kyle.  He can recall in great detail what it was like when he first arrived in Iraq (via Iceland), what it was like spending Christmas of 2009 there and the excitement of learning he was coming home to the US in early 2010.

After his military service ended, Kyle enrolled in college, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University (FAU).  Kyle had a wonderful student teaching experience but quickly realized the teaching wasn't for him.  His first teaching job presented challenges...imagine a classroom where 30% of the students (nor parents) speak English!

Kyle is a great addition to an already excellent team.  There is no question he is a leader and will become an important part of this team for years to come!  Please welcome Kyle when you see him on the golf course this spring!
