Every year we do a good bit a tree work, which is a major component of maintaining a golf course. A majority of the work is limbing. Oak trees are notorious for these little sucker growth/ branches that grow from old wounds on the tree (for example, where a larger limb was removed in the past). The build up of plant hormones at the site of the wound triggers this ugly growth. You can see an example of this above. Below, a tree on #2 was just trimmed. This is one of those details that I tend to obsess about! It's impossible to get every single one each year but I do focus on the most visible of trees.
