Hudson House Update

After the 6.5" rain event, a small portion of the rock wall collapsed along Dillard Road.  This will be an easy fix for my rock masons once they return to work on Wednesday.  This wall is the oldest, most original piece of Highlands CC, constructed in 1926-1927 using native stone.

While these pictures may not appear to be a whole lot different from others I posted, the roof lines are giving a great feel for the structure as the construction team moves along. Again, the building sits so nicely on the property and by next summer, it will look like it's always been there.  To me, that has always been the best compliment one could receive about a construction project- whether it's a building or golf tee or golf green!  I love the look of the two dormers

Side view from the lower parking area,

Main Dining room is above.  The timber framing is grand and beautiful!

This is the walkway from the Porte-cochere to the main entrance.  The white stripes in the photo have always been there (golf cart parking) from the original building.  This gives you an idea as to how the building sits on the site compared to the original.

Finally, here is a view of me standing under the walkway looking towards #10 blue tee.  In order to eliminate the need for steps coming into the building, you can see there is clearly a need to lower the grade of what is now the asphalt cart path in front of the Hudson House.  This re-grading will occur sometime in January or February.  We'll be removing all of the asphalt over towards the 10th tee box.  The neat thing about this... it will allow us to really enhance the landscape around the tee and create a unique and functional use in this heavy traffic area.  One thing the green committee is really studying (along with our golf architect) is the functional use and traffic that occurs in this area.  It's important we take into account the cart traffic that comes from members accessing the club from the Piper's Court area in addition to golfers playing the 10th hole.  There is a lot to consider and we want to be sure we address the congestion that occurs here.
