Arborcom started the work on the shade study on greens #1, #2, #15 and #16. This machine on the tripod will determine the amount of sun the green receives throughout the year on any given day based on the angle of the sun.
Above: All of the trees in the vicinity are numbered as shown. This data is used by plugging it into the model to show which trees are impacting the green at different times of year. It is then up to the Superintendent, working with the green committee to determine what the goals are and what needs to be done (in terms of tree removal) in order to meet the expectations of the membership. I would like to stress that we are not looking at any tree removal this year. Our goal is to simply gather the data and over the next year, determine a course of action working with the Green Committee and the Golf Architectural Committee.
