I had the honor to attend Dan Marshall's retirement lunch this afternoon at Old Edwards Inn. For the last 14 years, it's been a pleasure to work with Dan on a number of projects that benefited the Club and the HCC community. When Dan started at the Club, he brought with him a level of professionalism and experience that the Community Association (CA) hadn't seen before. Dan, in conjunction with a progressive Board, was able to get a lot of things accomplished around the campus. Some of the projects, like the pillars on the main road entrances, allowed us (Grounds Maintenance) to work with the CA to accomplish. Over these years, the campus benefited from Dan's leadership.
What was even more special about today, was the gift that Mr. Hardin presented to Dan. This black walnut bowl was made from wood off of the golf course and skillfully handcrafted by my Dad. His is a talented wood turner and this 16" walnut bowl is pretty impressive! It is something that Dan will have forever and can remember his time at Highlands CC. Dan will definitely be missed but Dave Latta will do a great job continuing the standard that Dan has set.
