Ideas...

For the last 10 years, I've been involved in the Carolina's GCSA as a board member.  I currently serve as Secretary/Treasurer and will become Vice President at our Annual Meeting in November at Myrtle Beach.  In November 2019, I will start my Term as President.  It's an honor to serve the membership and association which offers great educational and networking opportunities.  It keeps me plugged in and excited about the business.  It also allows me to travel the state and see what other superintendents are doing.  I'm always looking for ideas that would allow me to be better at what I do.  There are also some unique things I see at other facilities that are worth considering.  Here are a couple ideas.  Again, this isn't stuff we will necessarily implement but neat ideas worth considering.

1. Rather than ball pyramids, these wooden crates hold golf balls on on the practice tee.  When you tap the box with your club head, several balls will roll out the bottom.

2. Although hard to see, this air hose gun has a 15-18" extension piece which eliminates having to lift your foot off the ground.  Rather, you leave two feet down and clean your spikes by simply rolling your foot to the side.  Obviously, this is safer because you aren't balancing yourself on one foot.

Again, these are just some unique ideas and examples of things I'm always looking for at other facilities.  It is my goal (and the team's goal) to continually better ourselves year after year and never get comfortable with what we are doing. I'm always up for constructive criticism and fresh perspective.  I believe that if we get too comfortable doing what we do, we stop growing which ultimately benefits no one.
