Even though we are a full week removed from the excessive rain, we are still dealing with a few areas here and there that remain wet. I'm happy that #9 and #6 are well on their way to being back to normal. #10 and #11 are the two remaining areas we are working on. Both of these holes are notorious for their high water tables. When we get that much rain, it starts to seep out of the ground at the base of hillsides- exactly what is occurring on #10 and #11. Sunday, I dug some test holes on #10 to see how saturated the underlying soil was. Fortunately, it's relatively dry which means this is predominantly a surface water issue. We always hope these areas dry out on their own- after all, 30" a rain is a lot for any drainage system to handle. Our goal is to have this solved this week. Once we do dry out, there are a couple areas in fairways that we will aerate and seed to help them recover. Thank you for your patience while we get the golf course back to being in great shape.
