Great article...

This article was included in the recent edition of GCI Magazine.  The author, Adam Garr, is a friend and former superintendent in Michigan and now a regional representative for Syngenta, a large agricultural chemical company based in Greensboro, NC.  It's a great review of those basic things in life that we all forget.  My favorite point he makes in #8.

When I was young in my career, it took a long time to realize that there are many things in this business that are simply out of our control.  What we as supers learn over time, is how to respond to the curve balls we receive.  Grass is a living plant and there are times where we simply can't win, despite our knowledge base, or how much money and resources we throw at it.  While these times are rare, they are certainly humbling.  Despite a high maintenance budget, there is no way to make a playing surface, "bulletproof."  The saying in the business goes: "There are 2 types of superintendents...those who have lost grass and those who will lose grass."
