Here is another example of wilted turf in a fairway. When any plant wilts, in our case turf, it looses it's rigid cell structure that keeps it upright. The tire tracks you see in this photo are from a golf cart that unknowingly drove across some wilting turf on #17 yesterday. The tire tracks will remain until the turf "grows out of it." This is why you may have recalled a time when it was cart path only but it wasn't raining or wet. Although never the case at HCC because we don't get that warm, you might have experienced this at another golf course during a time when it was very hot and the turf was stressed.
