This is not a new water feature at #10 despite it's beauty. This morning a quick connect valve broke off of a swing joint causing this geyser. It's an easy fix that will be taken care of tomorrow.
Below, this area included in the "fescue bed" has become very unsightly due to a variety of weeds. Last winter, our intention was to re-sod the area but we fell short of time. Due to the fact that it isn't attractive, we are going to mow the area down today and make 2-3 applications of Round-Up this week, followed by aggressive aerification and seeding. Hopefully in three weeks we'll be seeing some nice germination of seed. This is where the geo-textile bag sat from the Dredging project a few years ago. Whenever you pump sediment from the bottom of a pond, you get everything that comes with it as well, including weed seed. Most of the grasses growing in this area are aquatic weeds that cannot be controlled with selective herbicides and the reason I'm resorting to Round-Up, a non selective systemic herbicide. If you look closely enough, you can see a perfectly rectangular area of weed infestation that comprises the precise area where the sediment bag sat that winter.
