With the course closed followed the 3rd match, we were afforded another great opportunity to get a lot of maintenance done on the golf course. Intermediate rough, fairways and greens were mowed again. In addition, tee divots were filled as well as some other small details. Ideally we would like to mow fairways in the morning. However, we only have 2 fairway mowing units and there simply isn't enough time to have all fairways mowed by 9:00am. Even if we did, we start so early that the dew would form right back on the turf, making it appear we didn't mow. Therefore, we spend the evenings mowing fairways and then those same staff members will touch up areas of rough in the morning before play. It works out well.
It was a warm day for Highlands and golf course is really drying out. We spent a good bit of the afternoon hand watering some "hot spots" that popped up throughout the day, primarily on the back nine. There remains a 50% chance of rain for the remainder of the evening and a 60% chance of rain tomorrow afternoon. Let's hope it remains dry to get the full event in!
