Above: the total acreage of maintained turf in the US. You can see it has declined- probably due to facilities reducing maintained turf in order to cut costs. Many have eliminated maintained turf in out of play areas, in turn going for a native grassy look.
There is double the amount of cool season turf in the US compared to warm season grasses like Bermudagrass. Below, this shows the numbers per grass species:
Above, this chart shows ways that clubs are making improvements to be better environmental stewards. 61% of courses are upgrading irrigation systems so less water is used and less power is consumed.
