It appears we have a pretty nice week ahead of us. While the temperatures are warming, it's important to note that we still are not it an active grass growing weather pattern yet. Remember that active growth doesn't resume until temperatures are CONSISTANTLY reaching the upper 60's and the key- night temperatures around 50. The key word being, consistantly. A day here and a day there won't trigger growth. One of the greatest challenges of being a superintendent is helping people understand that grass is a living organism/plant that is at the mercy of Mother Nature and her plan doesn't coincide with the golf calendar. It is neccesary to patient during the month of April (and sometimes May) while we transition from winter.
Our final load of sod should arrive in the morning. It will be nice to have this behind us as we can now focus solely on clean up and preparing the course for the season. We've already made a lot of headway with regards to clean up.
