Greens were sprayed today with a fertilizer/fungicide combination. We will be mowing them for the first time this year, on Thursday.
Above, the 5th fairway after its 2nd mowing. We will start striping the fairways diagonally, next week. However, with just one mower out today, it's easier for one person to mow, "light and dark."
Using a soil profiler, I went to select greens to monitor the root system. You can see the positive effects of good cultural practices like aeration. It is the white channels of sand that offer the most air porosity. This is exactly the place new roots like to grow! You can see the nice big white roots emerging from the turf. This is the sign of healthy turf that will be ready for a great season!
Above, all of the sodding of the 10th hole is complete, allowing us to focus on gearing the course up for this spring. We have about 3 weeks left to get the course ready. Below, our blower is out in full force daily, cleaning up the course, wall to wall.
