Friday

It's a very windy day in Highlands with winds gusting to 45mph!  The temperature is hanging around the upper 40's with wind chills near 30*.  Despite the weather, the staff got a load of sod laid behind the 18th green.  This area was raised up about 3' using spoils from the golf course.  We are considering adding some flower trees to enhance this area further.  It will be dryer and much more attractive.  Keep in mind, this area was once part of Swan Lake! Above, Matthew is knocking out an application of Calcitic Lime to the greens.  I am a proponent of a high calcium fertilizer program at HCC, particularly because of our high rainfall amounts!

Here is the before:  This was last November when we started hauling spoils to the area from other parts of the golf course.  This saved us from having to haul this material off site which resulted in financial savings.
