Irrigation prep

With continuing equipment troubles, we are switching gears and started stripping sod to prep for irrigation improvements.  With the irrigation renovation on a continued holding pattern and pushed out further in the future, we are having to make piece meal improvements in-house in order to get water to areas that receive none.  The recent drought this past summer showed us just how exposed we really are and how poor of coverage the antiquated system we have distributes water.  We use far more water than we should since we can't apply it with any kind of accuracy.  If the membership understood just how the playability of the golf course would improve, it would be a greater priority.  I'm proud of the job this staff did, working long hours dragging hoses, because  without them, it would take one year with weather conditions like last summer, to prove to the membership that our current system is not to the caliber of what it should be at Highlands CC.  We are the victim of our own success in that we currently make what we have, "work."
