On the 6th hole, the green can be a little weak in the right side. If you look at the photos below, the Oak tree next to the green actually hangs over the green. This is a big problem for this green and the tree needs to be removed. That doesn't mean it will be, however. It's understandable that golfers like their trees but most don't realize the negative impact they have on turf. Trees compete for the same sunlight as turf and always win because of their height. Secondly, they compete for the same water and nutrients. In both cases, the grass will always lose. As a smart man once said, "Think about how much grass you see growing in a forest. Golf is a game, played on grass. Trees belong in forests and arboretums." All too often we get too emotionally attached to the trees, keeping the turf and golf course from reaching its potential....not to mention the increased costs associated with more irrigation and pesticides to keep grass alive.
