If you have concrete and you are looking to darken it, consider acid stains. They sell for about $50 a gallon and turn the concrete a range of colors that you select. For this project, I used a black stain. This is a permanent stain because there is a chemical reaction the occurs; it isn't like a wood stain. Here are before, during and after photos:
