"The current severe drought in Highlands has led to a significant decrease in
water flow and a big spike in water temperatures. The water temperatures
are approaching 80*F on some days, which has created a situation where trout are
moving up the creek on #10 in search of cooler, more oxygenated water. We have
opened the irrigation drain valves in the creek to help the situation but
ultimately it will take a few heavy and steady rain events to restore a more
ideal Trout habitat. In the mean time, the fishing committee asked that you
voluntarily suspend fishing on Club property until we are able to get some
relief. Currently, we are 40" below our normal annual rainfall average for this
time of year. Any trout that is caught will most likely die if released due to the amount of stress this causes. If you are a fisherman the keeps your trout, proceed as you wish. Catch and Release fishing is suspended on a voluntary basis for the time being. "
