Wednesday

I modified the intermediate rough behind the 16th green to tie into the rock path.  With the already lower height of cut on our rough, the picture doesn't do the area justice.  The historical reason of "caddy walks" was so golfers and caddies didn't get their shoes and pant legs wet walking through tall turf.  It was easier to mow this a couple times a week then it was to mow all the rough.

Below, this is an actual tuber (modified root) of a Yucca Plant.  Never saw anything like this before but pretty impressive.  The amount of carbohydrates stored in this explain how durable of a plant it is...and to think this was growing along Dillard Road, 20" off the road!

Finally, we are in the process of trimming the hedge along highway 106.  I am doing this in phases, not all at once so a majority of the flower buds are left.  I am also doing it this time of year to insure the rhododendron break new buds this year.  Winter time is hit or miss with recovery and that is the last thing we would want to jeopardize.  This hedge is too important to overall landscape of the Club.  Unfortunately with Rhododendron, aggressive trimming is needed to keep them contained.  The rhododendron were blocking a majority of the wall and hiding one of our oldest assets.
