With with rain in the forecast, we are spraying PCNB, a fungicide used for snow mold control. It must be irrigated into the turf, or timed with rainfall. Rather than spray the entire course, we simply spray, "hot spots," or areas with a track record for disease. Although the name implies snow is required, it is not. February and March are prime time pink snow mold months because soils thaw and stay damp, creating an ideal environment for the disease.
