Tees and Sunlight

Very well written by the USGA Green Section. Think about our tees on 2,3,4,5,9,11,13,16 and 17.  In the last three years, we've seen some very nice improvement in the quality of turf on several tees, most noticeably #5 and 16.  The reason? They get more sun exposure as a result of tree removal.  There is no magic formula to it, it's quite simple. No amount of TLC or fertilizer can make up for what Mother Nature gives us free of charge!  There are several areas that remain in difficult spots like the #2 Jones tee. 1-2 hours of sun a day won't cut it. The fact it's a par 3 means more divots, wear and then less recovery. Resodding 1-2x a year is the only option without taking drastic action.
