This week's forecast is shaping up to be very similar to last. There is an 80% chance of rain through today and only drops slightly to 70% on Tuesday. Wednesday they are calling for a 90% chance of rain with showers at times becoming very heavy. Later in the week it does appear to clear off with mostly cloudy skies forecast well into Sunday. Temperatures will drop on Friday with highs barely reaching into the 40's, and lows falling into the mid 20's.
This week on the golf course we will be fighting the rain once again. Rain showers and thunderstorms have plagued maintenance work for the entire month it seems. Over the past week we have received well over 7" of rain and the totals continue to accumulate. Hopefully things will cease slightly today allowing us to get out for a brief period this afternoon and continue hauling sand to the bunkers. Regardless, we will travel the course and clean any drains that have debris piled on top of them. This will ensure that when we get the heavy rains on Wednesday, things will be clear and able to drain properly. This is assuming they will be able to handle the amount of water that is falling! Many times, rain can fall so fast and in such large quantities in Highlands, no drain can keep up with the flow. This can result in some serious washouts on the property. Please continue to check with us for any updates!
